Vacation time does not come around very often, so it is important to plan accordingly. There is nothing worse than almost arriving at your destination, to realize you have forgotten something vitally important. Unfortunately, “important items” can vary from one person to the next. This makes it impossible to cover every single essential item for every single person. However, most everyone will want to remember the following.

Camera

With the various amount of technology that can record videos and capture pictures, it should not be too hard for you to bring a camera. If you have a relatively new smartphone, then odds are it has a camera on it. On the rare chance, you do not, take any sort of camera with you (digital, instant, etc.) However, why should you worry about this? Depending on where you are going, it might be beneficial to take the memories back with you. Also, this gives you an opportunity to show other people the sights and sounds you experienced along the way.

Luggage

No, this is not meant to insult your intelligence. Of course, you are not going to forget the luggage to put everything in. This is just a reminder that there are several different types of luggage and it is necessary to realize the differences between them. Before you pack anything, you need to decide which kind accommodates your trip better. For more detailed information on the benefits, each one provides (specifically hard side vs. soft side), visit the highlighted link above.

Swimwear

Do not get it twisted, even if you are not planning on spending any time at the beach it is still wise to pack swimwear. The reason is if you stay at a hotel, they will probably have an indoor pool (and maybe even a hot tub). If you want to enjoy the benefits of this, you will need swimwear (unless you really want to swim in regular clothes). This could include but is not limited to, swim trunks, beach towels, balls, and sunscreen (if you plan on swimming outside).

All Hygiene Products

As it would be ridiculous to sit here and reserve sections for each individual hygiene product you should bring, just bring them all. You know the list; toothpaste, deodorant, body spray, shampoo and conditioner, and soap or body wash. After all, no one wants to go on vacation with someone who has terrible hygiene.

Medication

Outside of forgetting something essential, one of the few ways a vacation can be ruined is if you (or someone you are with) go under the weather. Unfortunately, this is always a possible situation that you will run into. While you are not going to bring a remedy for every single type of illness, you should pack medication that accommodates basic sicknesses. Such as headaches, stomach aches, general pain, allergies, coughing, sore throat, etc.

Money

Is there such a thing as a vacation where no money is spent? Do not wrap your brain around that for too long because you will probably never find one. As simple as it sounds, be sure to have your money situation figured out. If you are going to use cash, make sure that you will be able to pull some out at your destination. For debit cards, make sure you have enough money on them. Or, if you simply plan on using credit cards be sure to remember them!

Electronic Chargers

In the world that is dominated by technology devices, chances are you will bring some along on your vacation. With as important as they probably are to you, there is no need to remind you to take them. However, do not forget a vital accessory that keeps them running: their chargers. Wouldn’t it be a bummer if you had to spend an unnecessary amount of money on a phone charger because you forget yours at home? Even more so, how about a laptop charger as most of them will not be universal (so it could be hard to find one at a local store)? Spare yourself the hassle and remember every single charger for each of your devices.

Any Needed Documents

It is amazing how forgetting one tiny piece of paper can ruin an entire vacation. Depending on where you are going, some places may require you to bring a ticket or a reservation slip. Even if this is not the case, how about a needed passport or forgetting your identification? Check your bases and ensure that you have all the documents you need; that way you do not need to go back to get them.

A vacation should be a time of relaxation and entertainment. Do not let it become a time of stress and disappointment. If you mark these items off your checklist, the chances you will fall in the former category are enhanced.
